For me the predawn light is special... sort of a sunset in reverse but with solitude.  An hour or more before the actual sunrise, you seldom have to share where you're photographing with anyone.  The colder it is on a given morning makes it even less likely that you'll see anyone else unless it is someone with a camera.  It seems those who come out to watch the sunsets at the end of the day don't make it out to watch at the beginning of the day.
