This wave animation shot at Grand Haven is from the gale that swept across the lake on November 13th, 2005. The winds were sustained at 45-55 mph, gusting to as high as 75 mph according to the local TV weather that night,, which is the wind velocity of a category 1 hurricane! This animation is 17 frames long shot at 4 frames/sec, ~530x800 pixels, and is roughly a 3.1 Mbyte file. Please be patient and give it time to load... this wave almost totally obscures the fog signal building at the end of the south pier! The light levels change somewhat during the animation, which gives you a feel for how quickly the weather was changing during that storm from second to second.
