Lake Ontario drains the entire
Great Lakes basin to the Atlantic Ocean via the St Lawrence River.
50 Years ago, the Great Lakes became acceisble to ocean-going
vessels or "salties" as they're known to the boat nerds
of the Great Lakes, when the St Lawrence Seaway opened.
In October 2008, I did a photo trip along the shore of Lake Erie,
beginning at Toledo on the west photographing my way to Buffalo,
New York, and then along Lake Ontario to the mouth of the St Lawrence
River at Tibbets Point. I finished up the trip by photographing
the lights along the river for a Marine Photography spread that
will appear in Great Laker magazine in the January-March '09 issue.
There are also some unique structures along the Thousand Islands
section of the river that can only be referred to as castles.
One of these, Boldt Castle, is shown immediately below as a panoramic
image.
A link to the St Lawrence
Lighthouse Marine Photography spread on my website will be added
once the article has been published in the Jan-Mar issue of Great
Laker. Please check back.
